Kruger National Park Gate Times
You may only drive in Kruger during the permitted hours. Entrance and camp gates sometimes open at different times. For each month, both use the closing time shown in the table.
Gate and Camp Times
Entrance gates are used to enter and leave the park. Camp gates are used by overnight guests. In January, November and December, camp gates open earlier than entrance gates.

Plan your day
- Aim to arrive 15–30 minutes before closing. Animals in the road can delay you.
- Use the gate distances to choose an entrance and the itinerary guide to plan longer drives.
- Do not calculate drive times from the speed limit. Gravel roads, traffic and wildlife stops will slow you down.
- Self-drivers cannot drive after the gates close. Book a SANParks guided drive if you want to go out after hours.
Late arrival rules
Late entry is only for emergencies and is not available at every gate. You need booked accommodation, and you may need to arrange and pay for an escort. You must arrive before 21:00. Phabeni, Phalaborwa and Pafuri do not allow late entry. Check the current entrance-gate rules before your trip.
