Tanzania
Overview
Tanzania has both incredible wildlife and scenery. The Serengeti plains host the Great Migration and high predator densities, while Ngorongoro Crater concentrates rhinos and grazing herds in a volcanic bowl. To the east, Mount Kilimanjaro is ringed by forests and wildlife corridors. Tarangire, Manyara, Ruaha, and Nyerere add baobab valleys, elephant migrations, wild dogs, and river boat safaris to any itinerary.
When to visit
Seasons shape your plan. June–October suits river crossings in the north and dry-season herds (Tarangire is 4x4-only after heavy rain). December–March brings calving in the southern Serengeti and lush birding on Kilimanjaro’s slopes. Many travellers finish in Zanzibar, but even without the coast, Tanzania’s parks deliver the classic East African mix of wildlife, culture, and wide horizons.
