Camps

Garden Route National Park is made up of three main sections - Tsitsikamma, Knysna, and Wilderness - each with its own camps and accommodation options. Here's a quick overview of the main camps in each section:

Tsitsikamma Section

Storms River Rest Camp The most popular camp in the park, perched on rocky coastline with dramatic sea views. It offers a range of accommodation from forest cabins to campsites, and is the starting point for the Otter Trail. Activities include hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, and exploring the Storms River Mouth.

Nature’s Valley Rest Camp A small, quiet camp near the Groot River lagoon and an unspoiled beach. Accommodation includes basic forest huts and campsites. Ideal for birdwatching, walking trails, and a peaceful stay close to nature. It also marks the final stretch of the Otter Trail.

Knysna Section

Diepwalle Forest Camp Located deep in the Knysna forest, this peaceful, rustic camp offers tented forest cabins and campsites. Great for birdwatching, forest walks, and a quieter, off-the-grid experience. It’s also known for its woodcutters’ history and nearby elephant trails.

Harkerville Forest Tented Camp A small and secluded camp ideal for hikers and mountain bikers. Accommodation is in simple tented units with communal facilities. The surrounding forest offers excellent trails and proximity to the coast.

Wilderness Section

Ebb-and-Flow Rest Camp Set on the banks of the Touw River, this camp is split into North and South sections. Accommodation includes forest cabins, family cottages, and campsites. Activities include canoeing, birding, and hiking along rivers and through indigenous forest. It’s family-friendly and centrally located for exploring the Wilderness area.
